Schilling Beer Co:
Ammonoosuc Oktoberfest
Project Type: Craft Beer Festival / Oktoberfest
Date: 2017
Location: Littleton, NH
The Challenge
Infrastructure Development: The project involved transforming a rural riverside site into high-capacity festival grounds. This required intricate logistical planning, full-scale infrastructure development, and coordination with various stakeholders to accommodate thousands of guests, out-of-town brewers, and musical acts against the backdrop of the White Mountains.

The Strategy
The Festival Experience: The event was structured into distinct sessions to appeal to a broad demographic:
-
The Marketplace: Curated selection of vendors and northern New England purveyors serving Bavarian-inspired cuisine.
-
Session 1 (Daytime): Family-friendly with lawn games; minors permitted only with a parent.
-
Session 2 (Evening): Strictly 21+ only, featuring heightened musical performances and a traditional beer hall atmosphere.
-
Exclusive Brewer’s Dinner: A private VIP kick-off event featuring a multi-course meal prepared by Chef Adam Alderin.
-
Curation: Flavour Events curated 15 of the finest breweries in the U.S. (including Schilling Beer Co., Foam, Finback, and Brewery Vivant) to ensure a premium tasting experience.
The Execution
-
Power & Electrical Engineering: Complex power draw-down from utility poles to temporary meters for commercial refrigeration and high-fidelity sound.
-
Lighting & Visibility: Specialized site lighting for safe transitions from daytime to evening sessions.
-
Staging & Audio-Visual: Professional-grade music stage for a rotating lineup of folk and Oktoberfest bands.
-
Secure Perimeter & Safety: Implementation of a Fire, Life, and Safety Plan, professional security, and strict age-verification.
-
Logistics & Transit: Established offsite parking and a dedicated shuttle fleet to manage tourism traffic in the rural town.
The Impact
-
All local hotels were booked to capacity. Restaurants and downtown shops saw a significant uptick in foot traffic and revenue.
-
Community Legacy: Beyond its role as a tourism driver, the event integrated a strong philanthropic component, with proceeds donated to:
-
Ammonoosuc Chapter of Trout Unlimited: Supporting conservation and fly-fishing education.
-
Littleton Senior Recreational Fund: Enhancing the quality of life for local seniors through developed activities.
